Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an All India Entrance Examination, which is conducted on rotation by 14 National Law Universities (NLUs). The examination is held for admissions to under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes (LL.B & LL.M.). From this year onwards, the CLAT examination will be conducted online.

English Language

English language section is included to test the candidates’ proficiency in English. This section includes comprehension passages and grammar. The comprehension part combines in it understanding of the passage and its central theme, meaning of words used etc. Having a good grip over the subject can be helpful for the students to score well. The grammar part comprises questions from correction of incorrect grammatical sentences; fill in the blanks in sentences with appropriate words etc.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs

This section includes questions from general knowledge background. The static general knowledge part should be well prepared by candidates so that they can achieve good score in CLAT Examination. Good Knowledge of Current Affairs and General Issues related to economy, industry, legal background etc should be incorporated.

Mathematics

Mathematics is one of the important sections in the CLAT examination. The section includes elementary mathematics, i.e., maths that are taught up to Class X. Mathematics till class 10 is not that tough, and thus with daily practice one can easily succeed in the section. The appearing candidates should make it a point to practice the questions from various topics on everyday basis. Solving of model test papers and going through previous year question paper can also act as a good guide. With everyday practice of the sums, try to increase the speed.

Legal Aptitude

This section includes questions that are framed with the help of legal propositions and are framed to test candidate’s interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. This is one of the most important section of CLAT examination. For better performance in this section, candidates should have good knowledge on the laws of our country. Even keeping a track on the legal news and various developments on the country can be beneficial. Reading good law books and referring a renowned lawyer or legal practitioner can turn out to be helpful to understand the section well.

Logical Reasoning

To perform better in the logical reasoning part, one needs to be mentally alert and have enough logical skills. This section includes questions from the topics syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies etc. Practice of Sample Papers and Model questions will help the candidates for better result. Candidates need to understand the nature of the questions and then answer within very less time.

With daily practice of previous year questions, the time management ability will be developed.
